Academic Expectations Excellent performance in middle school can be made easier by establishing good study habits. You can help by establishing a homework routine at home. Try to do homework at the same time and place each night. Students should have a quiet space where they can concentrate. On average, homework should take about 60 minutes each night (all subjects). Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of experiences planned to meet different learning styles. Many times these activities will involve working cooperatively in small groups or with partners. At other times, activities may be of an independent nature. Regardless of format, quality work is expected. Students should turn in work that is complete, legible, and correct. All assignments should be turned in on time. Student progress will be reported to parents using Progress Reports half way through each quarter. Progress reports are not report cards. The purpose of the progress report is to communicate with parents how their child is doing in each subject area at the half way point of each quarter. Parents will receive report cards in October, January, March, and June. The grading scale is as follows: 100% - 90% = A 89% - 80% = B 79% - 70% = C 69% - 60% = D 59% - 0% = F If you ever have a question about your child's performance, please don't hesitate to contact me. We are a team, and together your child will have a terrific school year! |
Policy & Procedures
Homework: All homework is required. Missing Assignments – It is very important to complete and turn in all assignments on time. However, things happen and the idea is to do better every day. If you have a missing assignment that you can not locate using this site, you are to ask Mrs. Kobetitsch for a ‘Read With Me’ pass. Once a week, by appointment only, Mrs. Kobetitsch will have you come to class before school to read from a student provided book. Points for the missing assignment will be given for: student’s willingness to take responsibility for the missing work, being prepared for the reading, and the reading aloud to the teacher and comprehension of the material read. Procedures for Absence from Class 1. Upon return to class, turn in all assignments/homework due during absence. 2. Copy down planner/agenda messages missed during absence. 3. Ask a peer for handouts or notes (check the extras bin) 4. Check class website: kobetitsch.weebly.com 5. Turn in work assigned during the absence according to Manatee County guidelines. Cheating includes, but is not limited to: copying another student’s work, allowing another to copy your work, talking or communicating in any way during tests, completing work that is due immediately before turning it in, and/or plagiarism. Important Policies 1. BOTAP! Be On Time and Prepared! 2. Find your place and your purpose, quickly and quietly. 3. Respect yourself and others. Remember, personal space. 4.
